I should have said earlier - mea culpa... but recently I've been tied up with an RL side project that has a deadline of today. Anyway. The prizewinners forthe 9th were as follows:

Arely Latzo was the lucky winner of the hair, and Oberyn Firethorn nabbed the beards...and has already blogged them... ;)

On another note, I've gone live with a natural white version of the EFB01 hair as I've added a few pics of me in it to my Flickr account and it's generated some interest.


It's available exclusively on the SL marketplace, and so far seems to be going down quite well.

So there you have it... 4x4 has been.. Alice and I are both a year older, inworld and we're still stunned that it's been this long...

4x4 day 3 draw results...

Congratulations to Tea Panhandle for nabbing the hair gift for day 3, and 25Cents Carter for grabbing the beards!

Last draw tomorrow. All you need to do is buy a -dDx- style in any store, or even a pack on the marketplace (what ones there are there) and you too will be entered for the draw.

Seven hours in today and I can vouch that nobody has, as yet, bought a beard... so that might be a good place to start.

Also, at the end of today the mobvends go down. If you've not got your cheap on so far, now is your last chance to do so. These colors will NOT be available after today... and also, if you buy from a mobvend, it also qualifies you for the prize draw... so get to it!

Hair Fair dates announced...

It's happened... the dates for HF09 have surfaced; and I was signed up for it within a couple of hours of the notification going live...

Mark your calendars people... it's the 20th of June to the 4th of July... This means I have just 10 weeks to get my act together and get some hair made. Furthermore, the organising committee have requested this year that there is a blanket media blackout of whatever we're launching at Hair fair until mere days before the event itself... so I guess that means I'm going to have to shut up for once.

I'll be back with more news nearer the time, but until then, I got a sculpt lab to abuse... Be back soon...

Three new styles, One new area...

We have dreads... enough to justify a designated area. I mentioned before that I had three styles on the burners - well they're all now live. Meet Yannick, Ziggy and Persephone...





Yannick marks my first short men's do since Craig - and I promise I'll make more in time. There's a few styles in the offing that people have asked me for more than once... so they're on the build list...

Ziggy... This one's available with and without decals on some of the braids and is one for all those who've asked "can I have Ahab without the hat please?"... The length and volume's the same... so have at it!

Persephone's a nice simple one, again with decals and without... and a headband that while it looks simple, I had to get help texturing, because, well... while I've spent two years working on my prims, I still cannot draw a straight line in Photoshop, center the camera in Blender or do any form of shading that looks even vaguely decent. After tutorials from Faery Sola at Studio Sidhe and words of advice from Shelly Toonie at Moonshine, I collapsed in a histrionic tantie and asked for someone else to do it. Both offered nigh on instantly, but Faery shouted the loudest; so the ruckled hairband texture is based on her design... In the end I made it tintable with my usual scripts, so you can set it to however you want it.

All three now instore now in the new souped up dreads area, where the discount stuff used to be.

Backtracking in the name of progress

Common thing for me to look at my lines and thing "well I can do better than that..." and no surprises, I've started a periodic reshuffle of stock, replacing old stuff with new.

One of my primary areas of concern is the long open styles I sell... because, dear reader, they're textured badly, due to the way I tried to work them. well OK... it's not disastrous... just no longer representative of my ability... or I like to think so... So in the name of progress, and after a boot in the wazoo by Leknaart Timeless to make a new one; I did... This is Shurelia - Live now


This one replaces the old Miko line, which I was going to discount... and might... but I haven't quite yet. To be honest, I may sit it out until someone leans on me about it.

Also out is a replacement for Haruka and Ishi - a sculpted set of piggies using the old handle 'Boo'...


Note as well the switch to the new style "Series 4" vendor photos... Basically I decided "what the hell"... so they'll be cropping up around the store.

Iteration #04

New Zoe is now live... This is the FOURTH version of this style I've built, and this time I think I've got it. I love it... you'd have a hard job prising it off my head right now.

My blogging sucks... but here's what's going down.

SO much has happened...

Faery Sola of Studio Sidhe has worked on a beaded accessory for Taylor, and it rocks.. it's instore RIGHT NOW. Do check it out... and do check out her store for some beautifully crafted jewlery

Three new facial hairpieces instore... Diego (little chin beard) Dinsdale (victorian handlebar mustache) and... uh... Sportacus (yes... THAT 'tache)

BUT most importantly, There's a BIG push right now by numerous designers to raise money for the Australian Red Cross. My offering is Seraphina... a braided set of pigtails available now, with 100% of all takings going directly to the fund. There's also a donation kiosk instore, so please give generously.


Seriously, this is something we should all have a hand in helping. Come on by... PLEASE.

The irony is not lost...

Guys... Girls... I'm sorry.

My RL has caught up with me, so despite my last hair proto being named Rush, there will be no rush to get them completed until it calms down out here. Precisely how long I'll be away I'm not sure.. expecting a week at the very least.

Yes, I know I have a men's style to give away to the group. This WILL happen as soon as possible. It's getting there... but isn't set yet.

Working on some male business...

Got the basics done for a head covering for a masculine tied up dreaded style, one half of a new sensible short choppy men's do... and this...

The first fruit of '09...

Nox, Jocasta and Paige all now live in-store.





Got to admit, I'm pretty pleased with all three for various reasons. In fact, I first made a stab at something that ought to have been Jocasta before I even opened the store. This one has been some time in coming...

It's full of piratey goodness...

Was asked whether I would consider making a dreaded pirate style... well... I have.

It meant making 73 new textures, but that's all part of the territory; or you would have thought. It was, typically the first time I've made new textures since the store refit... but it went OK, and the result isn't awful! ;)



Oh... and in other news, I've decided to give away my next two styles to update group members, so you might want to consider joining. The first style, tentatively entitled "Paige" is nearing completion, and is a cute choppy feathered bob with a braided detail. The second, a men's do, will be tackled as and when I get teh first done.

Thirdly, I've expanded the Burns store from 4 to 10 beard styles. Worth a nose if you've not been quite yet!

Jeebus Crikey...

Store now refocussed... Still have to add a few signs and book a DJ, but otherwise I'm there...

Mainstore reshuffle commences

Just so you know, I'm playing with the layout over the next few days with the main store in an attempt to drop prims, space things out, decrease lag and free up the visuals so it no longer looks like a junkyard. I'll keep track of all the changes in this little bit here...

So far:

- Teleporters added and identified to all major locations: braids, beards, eyes, main entrance, discount area and coffee shop

- Braided styles replicated in new braids location - parcelled up to itself and advertised as such. Braids to be *removed* from main floor (the north building) as and when I've created signage

- Akira / Kaneda double pack scrapped. Nobody has bought a double since launch... so that's 46 prims I no longer need to house. Sorry guys

- Following styles removed from "full range" and sent to the Discount Hair area, selling only as tone and complete packs for 3 and 9 lindens respectively: Crista, Teri, Londo and Spike. Others to follow as demand for each style wains, and as I make new ones...

- Alice Hoyer has updated the dancefloor ball and finished off the concreting of the shop design... Thanks babe...

- Akira, Kaneda, Layla, Beth, Mai and Lorna relocated to improve the layout a little

Still to come

- SIGNAGE... I promise I'll sort this in due course

- reshuffling to regroup hair into ponytails, long loose styles, piggies, short female and short male styles. This will take a while, but it'll happen.

Capitulation - and words of a release...

Ok, I did it... Nick is now live...

But I stand my ground, it's NOT overpriced yuletide merch. I'm selling Nick for ONE LINDEN a double for the next couple of weeks, then setting it up at the usual full beard rate of 60L instead.



Now I know some of you would tell me that it's a little ... well... neat and tidy, or even too short for a Santa beard... but it's all about culture how 'Santa Claus' is perceived. Hell, where I'm from, he was traditionally a redhead dressed in forest green before the Coca Cola company struck with the red and white fat guy.

Anyway... enough about pop-cultural history. Back to your lives citizens...

Recent releases...

Hi again... release details after yeterday evening's buzz of activity...


Good grief, it finally happened! The braided piggies are live after 6 weeks of sitting around being judiciously overlooked...



Model found... coat purchased... photo's taken... Forkboy live.



Couldn't resist the mercenaries 2 look... boxed it... but the Travis included is a longer-line variant that I've had at my disposal, unused for quite a while... well it's out... and if you want it it comes with the beard for 90L.

Hiatus

Nothing forthcoming for a few days... as for the first time this year I'm taking a serious break.. 9 days away. Just to let you know that I have a norse men's hair and that set of braided pigtails still on the stands in the workshop; that I'll get back to as and when I return.

After a long weekend of messing about with the lovely people at the Elixir Bazaar (and spending a small fortune on sale items) I've cranked out the ponytail I've been threatening to for a week or so now.
